4.3.07-  A pickup truck and car collided at the intersection of 28th Ave and Baldwin around 4:30pm on Tuesday tying up traffic for over an hour.- Pictures

3.30.07 -Driver ran into the back of a semi heading West bound on I 196 Friday night.The car then rolled down into the woods and burst into flames.- Pictures

3.14.07- Georgetown fire department was called out around 6:57am to the 3500 block of Bauer Road on a reported structure fire. When crews arrived the garage was heavily involved and the was  fire trying to push into the house. The first crews entered the front of the house pushing the fire out of the kitchen back into the garage and keeping the fire from spreading. The interior of  the house did suffer smoke and heat damage. This fire is under investigation. -Pictures

2.25.07- Around 8:30pm Sunday night  a call came into Ottawa County Dispatch of  an industrial fire at Boyne Machine on Pine Ridge Dr with fire showing from the eves of the building. Georgetown fire dept sent all three stations immediately and  Fire Chief Dan Hamming started an aerial truck from Hudsonville for an assist when he pulled up with fire showing from the roof. The fire was considered a defensive fire from the start with protecting nearby buildings as the main concern. It took 5 engines, 2 trucks ,1 squad and 4 stations about an hour to contain the blaze.
     Boyne Machine makes auto and racing parts. The Georgetown Township plant employs 33 people. One of the owners says he was in the building earlier in the day and didn't notice anything unusual. Co-Owner Michael Blackmer says, “Me and my partners spent the last 14 years building this business. My heart just sunk when I came down the road and saw it up in flames." Courtesy of WZZM13
   Grandville and Blendon fire departments back filled Georgetown fire while they were on scene for over 5 hours with clean up and hot spots control. The cause of the fire is under investigation  Pictures

1.16.07- A 3 year old girl was rescued off the ice Tuesday afternoon at the Elmwood Farms Condominiums' complex in Hudsonville. Hudsonville Fire along with Georgetown Fire Departments Dive team pulled the girl to safety after she slide down a sledding hill and ended up 40 ft from shore on extremely thin ice conditions. Still on her sled she remained calm as Dive team members suited up and waded out in the frigid water enough to hook her sleds string and pull her into shore.

12.27.06- Georgetown fire department practiced on a building in the 7100 block of Cottonwood Dr. This house was donated to the fire department for training and then to be burned to make room for future development.

8.30.06- Around 4:00pm Georgetown Township Dive team was dispatched to a boat stuck in wood pilings on the Grand River. Upon investigation and conversation the assessment was made that the couple was stranded between the 28th St. boat launch and the Riverview Airport. The couple had used there cell phone to call for help. Calls to the strained boat where used by the fire department to help pin point there location for rescuers. The couple’s boat was stuck and no one was hurt in the incident. Conditions in the water where reported treacherous by firefighter Dave Vankley who was aboard the rescue boat as debris fields abound and low water conditions presented a challenge. “The boat was just stuck on a log that had jammed into the motors jet intake.” Dave replied. A quick pull off the log and the couple in the boat was off to continue their day of fishing.
